Meet the Founders
RackTop Systems was co-founded by Eric Bednash and Jonathan Halstuch — U.S. Intelligence Community veterans who saw the data protection gap firsthand and built a company to close it.
Intelligence Community roots
Eric and Jonathan met while serving in the U.S. Intelligence Community, where they worked on data infrastructure and cybersecurity for some of the most demanding environments in the world. They saw firsthand that traditional storage platforms left critical data exposed — and that the security industry was focused on everything except where the data actually lived.
In 2010, they founded RackTop Systems to build what the market was missing: storage that actively defends the data it holds.

Eric Bednash
Co-Founder & CEO
Eric Bednash co-founded RackTop Systems in 2010 after serving in the U.S. Intelligence Community, where he developed deep expertise in cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and the operational realities of protecting classified and sensitive information.
As CEO, Eric leads RackTop's strategic direction and market development, building the company into a recognized leader in Cyberstorage and data-centric cyber defense. Under his leadership, RackTop has secured multiple U.S. patents, built a growing customer base across federal and commercial markets, and coined the term "Cyberstorage" to define a new category of storage security.
Eric is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity, data protection, and the intersection of storage infrastructure and active defense.

Jonathan Halstuch
Co-Founder & CTO
Jonathan Halstuch co-founded RackTop Systems in 2010, bringing experience from the U.S. Intelligence Community where he worked on data systems and cybersecurity infrastructure for some of the nation's most sensitive missions.
As CTO, Jonathan leads RackTop's technology vision and product development, architecting the BrickStor SP platform and its patented security technologies — including Active Defense, ImmutaVault, and Intelligent Bulk Remediation. He holds multiple U.S. patents for innovations in storage-layer cyber defense and recovery.
Jonathan is deeply involved in customer engagements, translating complex mission requirements into practical data protection solutions for federal agencies, defense organizations, and enterprise customers.

The Cyberstorage vision
Eric and Jonathan built RackTop on a simple conviction: storage can no longer be passive infrastructure. Data is where the mission lives, and protecting it requires active defense at the storage layer — not just perimeter tools and backup hope. That conviction became Cyberstorage, and it continues to drive every product decision RackTop makes.
