Jonathan Halstuch and Sam Zaydel talk about the fundamentals of a smart storage system.

Sam has been at the heart of creating RackTop’s own smart, autonomous operating system. A smart system is one that can actually change itself based on feedback, feedback is data in our case. Storage is one area that has, in the past, left the decisions to administrators. Our system aims to change that. The full data feedback picture includes more than simply the data you’re storing – it also emcompasses a large amount of metadata about the data and details about the way that we are using and access the data.

Sam is focused on optimization performance and understanding and optimizing to IO patterns in workloads. Together, we are looking at which elements offer the most important return on information to determine complex relationships.
