Richard Shea to Join RackTop Systems as Chief Revenue Officer

Longtime startup and technology executive Richard Shea has joined RackTop Systems as the company’s new Chief Revenue Officer, effective immediately. Shea is a seasoned serial entrepreneur with a demonstrated track record of rapid growth, product development and innovation, global sales and go-to market experience.

In his role, Shea will help RackTop continue to build on the sustained success of its dynamic BrickStor SP product – the market’s only cyberstorage solution that blends AI-powered active defense controls with advanced compliance and monitoring to effectively safeguard unstructured data from ransomware and insider threats.

RackTop marks the eighth venture-backed company Shea has joined over the course of his 30-year career across storage infrastructure, cybersecurity, engineering and B2B technology services. He helped lead his previous seven organizations to successful, high-level exit acquisitions by connecting their visions and products with major industry players like Dell, Microsoft, HP and ServiceNow. Among them included a start-up that went from product introduction to an exit valuation of $1.4 billion over a four-year span – representing the largest all cash acquisition in IT history at the time.

A 1984 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Shea began his career as a nuclear engineer engaged in the construction of power and propulsion systems for the Navy’s  Nimitz class Aircraft Carriers and Seawolf Submarines. He earned an MBA in Business Administration from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management in 1991.
